Do all roaches come from the outside?
Most species do. The exception are
German Cockroaches which are "hitchhikers". That means they are
brought into the home from groceries, furniture, or any items that have
been in an environment that has been heavily infested.
Apartment buildings, restaurants and storage facilities are very common
breeding grounds for German Cockroaches.
Can fire ants live inside my home?
Fire ants are very active during the
warmer months in our area. They don't "live" inside structures per
se. They'll invade these areas in search of food and moisture.
They actually cycle through homes and other structures. As one
segment of the colony is moving in to feed, another segment is moving
out.
This cycle continues until they find another area to invade or they're
exterminated.
How can I keep mice from coming into my home?
Don't provide them food and shelter.
They need very little food to survive so clean up any food source they
may be attracted to. Pet food and in house garbage are the first
places to start. Secondarily, clean up food debris after meals in
the kitchen or any other areas in the house you eat.
De-clutter your house. Clutter gives them a place to nest and
breed. Store dry goods in air tight containers if you have a
pantry if mice have been a problem in the past.
Lastly, inspect your home for cracks that are accessible to the outside.
Use steel wool, expanding foam, or caulk to seal off these areas.
